Job Title Manager, Graphic Design

Job Purpose (Role)

The Manager, Graphic Design plays a key role in shaping and maintaining AAMI’s visual identity across all marketing and communications (MarCom) efforts. This position collaborates closely with the Vice President of MarCom and cross-functional teams to deliver compelling, brand-aligned designs that support AAMI’s strategic goals & objectives and our Annual Operating Plan (AOP) goals & objectives

Essential Duties (Responsibilities)
    Campaign & Brand Design
  • Collaborate with the VP, MarCom to design and execute targeted campaigns promoting AAMI events, resources, and brand engagement.
  • Develop visual assets for MarCom campaigns related to products, training, events, and membership.
  • Create digital assets for advertising, social media, and web marketing, including the AAMI website and AAMI Array.
  • Brand Management
  • Develop and maintain AAMI’s brand guidelines in collaboration with leadership.
  • Guide staff and vendors on correctly interpreting and applying brand standards.
  • Review all marketing content for clarity, accuracy, creativity, relevance, and brand consistency.
  • Event & Presentation Design
  • Develop concepts and final designs for the visual branding of conferences and events.
  • Design visually compelling presentations for keynotes, presentations, and business development.
  • Publications & Collateral
  • Design and manage the production of printed materials such as brochures, postcards, and news compilations.
  • Responsible for designing and ordering branded merchandise, promotional products, and corporate gifts.
  • Manage and collaborate with external vendors.
  • Asset & Project Management
  • Maintain organized design files and imagery for use by AAMI staff.
  • Support special marketing projects, including membership advertisements and publications.
  • Provide design support for various marketing initiatives, including social media, web, and direct mail.
  • General Support
  • Perform other duties as assigned within areas of responsibility.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Communications, or a related field..
  • Minimum 3 years of professional design experience, preferably in marketing or communications.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating branding, digital design, and print collateral expertise
  • Experience in designing web, social media, and email marketing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a nonprofit membership or trade association
  • Previous experience in the healthcare industry
Working Conditions
  • Working conditions are normal for an in-office, virtual, and hybrid environment.
  • Flexible hours: day and some evening hours required to support special initiatives.
  • Travel 1 to 2 times per year, but may vary, usually within the US.
  • Hybrid work schedule, minimum of two days a week in Arlington, VA, office.  Flexibility is required to increase the number of days in the office based on mission/business needs.
